1st off lets establish that as the Greek language spread, people made big and small changes. Soon after the language was altered so many times the different dialects or versions interacted and combined to create 1 language. Today the Greek that is commonly used is called "Koine Greek", Koine means common as it is commonly used. As we use Koine is used today it is a simplified, polished, and easy to understand form of Greek. The earliest form of Greek spoken that we know of is called "Linear B", it is the classical Greek that was used by philosophers. Classical Greek was very very precise type of the Greek language.
